Strengthening Your Presence  in AI Answers

Someone asks ChatGPT for a recommendation in your category. Three companies are named. Your business is not one of them — and there may be no simple report showing exactly why.

ENH Marketing helps businesses understand and strengthen how their brand and information are represented across Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. Not every AI visibility activity delivers meaningful value. We focus on the areas that can be researched, improved and monitored — from content and technical accessibility to brand information, third-party references and other signals that help AI systems understand your business. As a Dubai digital marketing agency, we connect AEO and GEO with SEO, content, websites and wider digital marketing rather than treating AI visibility as a standalone tactic.

AI PLATFORMS TRACKED

  1. AEO

    AEO, answer engine optimisation

is commonly used to describe work aimed at helping content provide clear, useful answers that can be surfaced by answer-focused search experiences and AI assistants.

  2. GEO

    GEO, generative engine optimisation

is a broader term used for efforts to improve how a business and its information are understood and represented in generative AI and search experiences.

Neither term is an official Google or OpenAI product category. The terminology is still evolving, and different agencies may use AEO and GEO to describe different types of work. That makes it important to look beyond the label and understand exactly what is being proposed.

The real question

The underlying question is straightforward: when an AI system answers a question about your category, does it have enough accurate, relevant information to understand and represent your business?

Different AI assistants use different combinations of search indexes, web crawling, model knowledge and other information sources. That means there is no single optimisation method that applies equally to every platform.

  1. 01

Google AI Overviews and AI Mode

How it can find current information

Uses Google Search and can run multiple related searches across subtopics and sources to build an answer

What this means for your website

Standard SEO remains the foundation. Pages need to be accessible, indexed and eligible for Google Search. Google does not require a special AI file or AI-specific schema

  2. 02

    ChatGPT

How it can find current information

When web search is used, ChatGPT can search the web and provide links and citations. OpenAI uses OAI-SearchBot to help surface websites in ChatGPT search results

What this means for your website

Allow OAI-SearchBot to crawl pages you want eligible for ChatGPT search. Keep important business information clear, current and easy to verify

  3. 03

    Perplexity

How it can find current information

Uses web search to retrieve current information and can provide citations to the sources used in an answer

What this means for your website

Review which pages and sources are being referenced and identify important questions or topics your website does not address clearly

  4. 04

    Gemini

How it can find current information

Can draw on Google’s information systems and public web information, depending on the product and query

What this means for your website

Strong Google Search visibility and accurate business information across relevant Google properties remain important foundations

  5. 05

    Microsoft Copilot

How it can find current information

When web search is enabled, Copilot can generate search queries and use Bing results to ground its responses

What this means for your website

Make sure important website content is crawlable and discoverable through Bing, particularly for web-grounded Copilot experiences

Your Website Is One Source — Not the Only Source

A crawlable, well-structured website gives AI systems reliable information directly from the business. But it is only part of the picture. AI systems may also encounter your business through reviews, directories, industry publications, partner websites, news coverage, videos, social platforms and other publicly available sources.

That makes consistency important. Your website should clearly explain who you are, what you offer, where you operate and who you serve. Important information should also be accurate and consistent across credible third-party sources. The objective is not to control what an AI assistant says. It is to make accurate, relevant information about your business easier for search engines and AI systems to discover, understand and reference.

Worth understanding before paying for a separate “GEO” package, because Google’s guidance is quite direct.

Google states that:

there are no additional technical requirements or special optimisations required to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode.

Google Search Central

It goes further.

You do not need to create special AI files or add special schema specifically for these features.

Google Search Central

For a page to be considered as a supporting web source, it needs to be

  1. accessible to Google

  2. indexed

  3. eligible to appear in Search

Google also makes clear that standard SEO fundamentals continue to matter for its generative AI features.

Google’s AI search experiences can draw on multiple searches and sources to develop an answer. That makes useful, well-structured content particularly important: a page that answers the main question clearly, while also addressing relevant supporting questions, can provide more useful information for these systems to work with.

The practical takeaway is straightforward: there is no secret Google GEO setting. For Google’s AI search features, strong technical SEO, useful original content, clear information and sound search fundamentals remain the foundation. That does not make AI visibility irrelevant. It means the value lies in understanding how your brand is represented, identifying gaps in the information available about your business and improving the signals that can be influenced — rather than selling a special optimisation that Google itself does not require.

AI visibility is not about adding an “AI optimisation” tag to a website. The practical work is mostly about making your business easier to crawl, understand, verify and reference.

  • Being Crawlable by the Right Bots

Check whether important pages are accessible to the crawlers used by the AI services you want to appear in. For ChatGPT Search, OAI-SearchBot is the relevant OpenAI crawler; GPTBot serves a different purpose related to training. Perplexity and other AI platforms have their own crawling and access controls. A robots.txt rule, firewall or bot-protection system can unintentionally prevent access.

  • Being Discoverable Beyond Google

Google is not the only search index that matters. Bing provides web results used by Microsoft Copilot when web search is enabled, making Bing discoverability relevant to those experiences.

  • Putting Important Information in Accessible Text

AI systems need accessible information they can retrieve and interpret. Important facts should not exist only inside images, videos or other formats without supporting text. Your website should clearly communicate what you do, who you serve, where you operate, your products or services and other information customers are likely to ask about.

  • Answering the Questions Around the Main Question

A useful page rarely answers only one question. It may also need to address pricing considerations, comparisons, suitability, locations, processes, alternatives, specifications or common customer concerns. This matters because AI search experiences can use multiple related searches and sources when constructing an answer.

  • Building a Credible Third-Party Presence

AI systems may encounter your business through sources beyond your own website — including directories, reviews, industry publications, partners, news coverage and other credible websites. The objective is not to manufacture mentions. It is to make sure important information about your business is accurately represented across relevant sources and supported by genuine third-party references.

  • Keeping Your Business Information Consistent

Your business name, location, services, contact details and core description should be accurate and consistent across your website and relevant external sources. Contradictory information can make it harder for search engines and AI systems to determine which information is reliable. Consistency therefore supports clearer entity understanding.

  • Using Structured Data Where It Makes Sense

Structured data can help search engines interpret information on a page and can support eligible search features. It should accurately reflect the visible content and follow the relevant search-engine guidelines. It is not a special requirement for appearing in Google’s AI Overviews or AI Mode.

The practical approach is simple: make the information accessible, useful, consistent and verifiable — then measure how your brand and content are actually being represented across AI-powered search experiences.

01Establish Your AI Search Baseline
  1. 01

    Establish Your AI Search Baseline

We test real questions relevant to your category across the major AI search experiences and record what appears, which businesses are mentioned, which sources are cited and where your brand is represented.

  2. 02

Clear the Access and Information Gaps

We review crawler access, search indexing, important content in accessible text and the consistency of your business information across your website and relevant external sources.

  3. 03

    Fill the Answer Gaps

We identify questions your existing content does not answer clearly and develop or improve content around the main questions, supporting questions and information customers are likely to need next.

  4. 04

    Strengthen Your Third-Party Presence

We review relevant directories, listings, industry publications, review platforms, partner sites and other credible sources where your business may be discovered or referenced. Where appropriate, we identify opportunities to improve the accuracy and breadth of your external presence.

  5. Ongoing

    Re-Test and Track

We repeat the same or comparable prompts at defined intervals and record what changes. This creates a documented view of how your brand is being represented over time rather than relying on isolated examples or unsupported visibility claims.

AI responses can vary by query, platform, location, available sources and the information an AI system retrieves at the time. No agency can reliably control those variables. What we can do is establish a baseline, test defined questions consistently and document what changes.

We will not promise

  • placement in an AI-generated answer
  • a specific mention rate
  • a score that increases every month

You will see

  • which questions your business appears for and where it is absent
  • which sources are being referenced
  • what changed after the work and what we recommend addressing next

How it is measured

We use the same or comparable prompts at defined intervals, so the results can be compared over time rather than presented as isolated examples.

AI search visibility is particularly relevant for:

  • Research-led categories — Professional services, healthcare, B2B suppliers, education and other businesses where customers compare options before making contact

  • Businesses already receiving AI-referred enquiries — Especially where customers mention ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or another AI assistant during their research

  • Businesses being overlooked in AI answers — Particularly when relevant competitors are being mentioned or cited while your business is absent

  • Brands with inconsistent identity signals — Multiple business-name variations, outdated addresses, conflicting listings or other information that makes the business harder to identify consistently

Not every business needs a dedicated AEO or GEO programme. If most of your customers discover and buy from you immediately through social advertising or other impulse-driven channels, improving AI search visibility may not be the priority right now. We start by assessing whether the opportunity is relevant to your customer journey — before recommending the work.

AEO and GEO as Part of Your Digital Strategy

Your AI search presence is shaped by the same digital foundations that support search, content and conversion. ENH connects AEO and GEO with SEO, website content, website optimisation, paid media and wider digital marketing to keep your brand information clear, consistent and useful across the customer journey.

FAQ

Everything you need to know about working with Dubai’s result-driven digital marketing agency.

SEO covers visibility in search results generally. AEO and GEO are industry terms for being cited inside AI-generated answers. For Google's AI features, the work overlaps almost entirely with SEO. For ChatGPT and Perplexity, third-party mentions and crawler access matter more.

Google's guidance says AI text files are not required for its AI features, and reports on whether other assistants use it disagree. It is cheap to add and unlikely to do much. Treat anyone selling it as a main deliverable with caution.

No, and nobody can. These systems produce different answers to the same question at different times. What we can do is test where you currently stand, work on the inputs that influence it, and show you what changed.

Prompt testing. We run the questions your buyers would ask across the main assistants and record who gets named. That is the only reliable method, and it needs repeating on a schedule to be worth anything.

Partly. Referrals from AI domains appear as traffic sources, and Google reports AI Overviews and AI Mode inside Search Console under the Web search type. Neither gives you a clean separate number, which is why we also use self-reported attribution on forms.

Google states there is no special structured data required for its AI features. We still recommend schema, because it helps machines parse your pages correctly and it earns rich results in ordinary search. Just not on the basis that it unlocks AI Overviews.

That is a business decision, not a technical one. Blocking protects your content from being used for training but removes you from answers that could send buyers. Most businesses selling something want to be found. Publishers often decide otherwise.

Tell us your category and the questions your customers ask before they buy. We will run them across the main assistants and send you what comes back, including which competitors get named.

No charge for the first read. If you are already showing up well, we will tell you that and leave you alone.
